Classical ballet is at the heart of all our activities at JMDS. Our students are taught the basic positions and movements from age two, progressing through the various grades by exams until, usually as teens, they display all the characteristics of dancers in the country's leading ballet companies.Read More
Why not give this audition a try? We have a history of success with the English Youth Ballet, usually getting at least six pupils into the ballet performances. It's such good experience and I highly recommend some of you have a go (you must be aged 8 or over). Coppelia is such a lovely character ballet.
Please read the details carefully and let me know if you'll be auditioning. Please remember to wear your JMDS uniform and zip up hoody, if you have one, to the audition, and to write 'The Jayne Marie Dancing School' in full (not just 'JMDS') on the form.
Wishing lots of our fabulous dance students the very best of luck.
Not all audition opportunities are created equal, but the London Children's Ballet is definitely one of the worthwhile ones. We've had students perform with LCB in the past; they have loved the experience and learned loads.Read More

It has become fashionable to teach a method of dancing that relies on stretches and contortions such as side tilts, needles and scorpions; or to have younger and younger girls going en pointe. This might be good for Instagram, but it is not the way JMDS teaches – and it never will be.Read More
