Jayne Wilson AISTD (Dip) Fellow & Examiner of the British Arts
Jayne formed the Jayne Marie Dancing School in 1983. She trained at Norwood Green Academy in West London from the age of 3, and Harrison College in Watford under her mentor Elizabeth Harrison, Fellow & Examiner of the ISTD. Jayne is an Examiner for the British Arts - since 1999 - which has taken her all over the country as well as to Italy and Los Angeles. Jayne was proud to receive the British Arts Leading Teacher Award in 1997, 1999, 2016 and 2018 and has received the British Arts Display of the Year award four times, for The Nutcracker in 1993, The Wonderful Land of Oz in 1996, Sleeping Beauty in 2016 and By Special Request in 2018.
Hollie Bishop ISTD DDE
Hollie attended JMDS from age three to 18 and was Head Girl from the age of 16. She went on to gain her ISTD teaching qualifications at The College in Royston. Hollie attended the London Junior and Senior Ballet's Associate programme in ballet, contemporary and tap for five years. She is a talented and accomplished choreographer and has choreographed many of JMDS's award-winning solos, duets and group dances.
Karen Tower AISTD
Karen started dancing at the age of two, winning competitions and performing professionally from a young age. She gained her ISTD Associates and ISTD Advanced in Ballet, Tap, Modern and National from Harrison College, Watford. After graduating Karen performed on Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines and at the Thomson Gold hotel in Rhodes, where she was Dance Captain. After having her two children Karen taught fitness to celebrities including Amanda Holden and Laura Whitmore. As well as teaching at JMDS she is currently a Fitness presenter for Fitsteps, alongside Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe.
Emma Yexley AISTD
Emma started dancing at the age of three and is an ex JMDS Head Girl. She won numerous British Arts awards and many for her choreography: one of her passions. She went on to train full time at The Italia Conti Academy in London. Professional engagements include working as a backing dancer on shows and events including the Pop Idol tour and The Brit Awards; performing at Sadlers Wells and at The London Palladium; recording backing vocals for various children’s CDs and featuring in adverts for Fox Kids and Nickelodeon as well as working for the BBC in the Tracy Beaker series. She was also featured in the film Love and Other Disasters. Emma went on to gain her ISTD teaching qualifications and taught at JMDS and many other theatre schools and dance companies. After a break in teaching while having her three children Emma is thrilled to be back teaching at JMDS.
Nicola Casserley BA (Hons)
Nicola's passion for theatre started at age three, watching her mum rehearsing shows while her dad built the sets! Soon after, she started dance classes in ballet, tap and modern. She studied Theatre, Film and Television at Aberystwyth University, during which time she performed in several productions and short films. Back home, after a few years helping to direct a local youth theatre group, she trod the boards at the Playhouse, taking on various roles including Sally Hardcastle in Love on The Dole, Mme de Tourvelle in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Laurie in Oklahoma and Nellie in South Pacific. Most recently she was Hermione in The Winter's Tale in collaboration with the RSC. She also taught drama at The Hemel Hempstead School. Nicola has three children.
Vanessa Baldwin ISTD DDE
Vanessa has been dancing since the age of four and trained at Marcia Jones School of Dance in Nottingham, studying ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern and Disco/Freestyle. At the age of eighteen Vanessa moved to Watford to pursue a three-year musical theatre and teacher training course at Margaret Howard Theatre College, training under Gill Merry, Fellow & Examiner of the ISTD. For five years she taught at the Margaret Howard Theatre School, and now has her own dance school in Nottingham. As well as teaching throughout JMDS she coaches our older students through their Advanced 2 tap and modern exams.
